Description: Town of New Carlisle Public Posting Position: Utility I Reports to: Town Crew Leader and Public Works Director Primary Job Purpose: 1. Works under the direct supervision of the Town Crew Leader or other employees as assigned to ensure work is done in a timely, proficient manner. 2. Employee must work with other town employees to provide adequate and quality services to Town residents and businesses. 3. Employee must complete paperwork in a timely proficient manner, including but not limited to maintenance logs and work orders. 4. Employee will assist in reading and recording both electric and water meters. Working Conditions 1. Work involves exposure to dirt, dust, grease, chemicals, mechanical, and electrical equipment. 2. Work is performed in all kinds of weather and at times during evening and nighttime hours. 3. Reasonable mental dexterity is required. 4. Light to heavy exertion is required. 5. Vision is used 100% of the time. Qualifications:

1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must possess a valid Driver’s License. 3. Must have, or have the ability to obtain within one year, a current Class B Automatic CDL with airbrake endorsement. 4. Obtain Water DSM within three years of employment. 5. Basic knowledge of mechanics in order to perform preventative maintenance, periodic adjustments, or minor repairs. 6. Working knowledge and skill in the safe operation of power tools and equipment. 7. Basic knowledge of traffic laws applying to heavy equipment operation. 8. Ability to work independently, with some supervision. 9. Ability to read utility maps and prints. Must receive Hepatitis B series of inoculations, at the Town’s expense, or sign a waiver.
